Things have been moving at such a fast pace, and we have found it hard to keep you up-to-date on our progress...

The latest is the fantastic news that we have secured £85,499 of grant funding to get new equipment for the Children's Park. As many of you will have seen, work has begun and our much beloved and well used park is getting a new lease of life. £35,500 was won from the East Riding of Yorkshire Council as part of their Play Pathfinders Fund plus £49,999 from Groundwork: Changing Spaces - part of the Big Lottery Fund. Plus the money raised from our generous community will all go into the pot.

The application process has been a lot of hard work and taken many, many hours out of our volunteers' busy lives to complete. Since the PFA's beginnings almost 60 years ago, generations of villagers have worked so hard raising money for the Playing Fields. Our current committee is very happy to be able to build on, and continue, this good work - we are very proud of our success.

There is a lot of new equipment going into the park, with a couple of old favourites staying - The slide will keep pride of place and get a well deserved lick of paint. The primary school children of the village have been fully involved in the process - they voted for their favourite pieces equipment to go into the park - and are very excited that it will completed very soon.

In the meantime we would ask those visiting the Playing Fields to take extra care during the building period. Parking spaces on the car park may be limited whilst the contractors are working as they will need full access to the park via the double gates. Please could car users find alternative, considerate parking. The weather at this time of year means the field will not be able to be used by cars as it is too wet. However the path to thePavilion will still be safe to use.

With thanks to these organisations for their generous support
